Cincinnati Pops Director Erich Kunzel Dies At 74

Award-winning conductor Erich Kunzel has died at the age of 74. He had been diagnosed with liver, colon and pancreatic cancer in April. Kunzel headed the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra since it was founded three decades ago. He had led the National Symphony on the Capitol lawn in nationally televised Memorial Day and Independence Day concerts since 1991.  I so enjoyed his concerts on the Capitol Lawn at the Memoria Day and 4th of July Concerts see more here on PBS.

Check out Janelle Gelfand, music critic for The Enquirer in Cincinnati talks with Renee Montagne about Kunzel’s work.

Testimonials
“Parents and children alike will flash a big smile at the sight of the ‘ABZ’s of Musical Instruments’ a most unique and captivation technique of introducing children to music. The dazzling bright colors highlighting the alphabet, as well as the wide selection of instruments, will educate, delight and capture the attention of both parent and child. The extensive glossary of the many unfamiliar instruments adds to the usefulness of the book.” —Johnnie Osburn Dent, Veteran Librarian and Recipient of The New York Times’ Librarian Award 2001 for Outstanding Community Service.
